| 20+

Art Speaks Harlem Collective is a digital collection of contemporary African and African Diaspora art that celebrates what Harlem has meant to the American culture. As an organization that fosters the appreciation of contemporary art, they are hosting their first fundraising event called “Uptown 4 5 6 Music and art Fundraising Series” held, at The Langston Hughes house in Harlem from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm; with an open bar sponsored by Harlem Brewery.

At Art Speaks Harlem Collective, their goal is to bring together writers, artists, musicians, photographers, poets, and scholars to continue the legacy that so many greats like Langston Hughes have left for remaining generations. The goal of this fundraiser is to aide “I, too collective, operators of the Langston Hughes House, in their efforts to raise money, to refurbish the Langston Hughes House piano. Refurbishing the piano will significantly help the organization provide more community music programs for younger generations. Raffle tickets and event tickets can be purchased by visiting www.Uptown456event.eventbrite.com

Harlem has always been a place where black people could express themselves freely, which is why this event needs to be as live as Harlem has always been. No aspect of the Harlem Renaissance shaped America as much as jazz, and at Uptown 4 5 6 they plan to pay homage to this with live music from artists Aria Nadege (@arianadege). In addition to a live band and singer, they will have a live painting completed by Javon Conaway (@artbyjcon) and a spoken word piece by poet Katoucha Fabre (@katoucha.fab).
